Funeral Concierge

Planning a funeral can be a daunting and convoluted process especially when you are in the midst of grief. From the practical considerations to dealing with the tactics of corporate funeral homes, attempting to plan a funeral can be incredibly difficult. Let’s talk together about your ideal funeral, explore your many options, and figure out a plan that works best for you.

Advance Care Planning

Many people are proactive in appointing a power of attorney or substitute decision maker but that is only one part of the puzzle. By sitting down and discussing specific questions around end-of-life care, I can help you to develop an advanced care plan that will help you to clarify your wishes and save your family from the grief and confusion of wondering what you would want.

Obituary and Eulogy Services

Putting your loved one’s life into words can be a daunting task. As a professional freelance writer, I can take on the task of writing about your loved one and creating a send-off that encapsulates who they were and the legacy they are leaving behind.

Grief Education and Care

Learning together and teaching others about grief is where my passion lies. It’s time to move beyond The Five Stages of Grief and the myth of closure. I can help bring your grief knowledge into the 21st century and help you learn more about typical grief reactions, how society impacts our grief, how to live with grief, and more. My grief education is available in the form of 1:1 care, small workshops, and educational talks.

Vigil Sitting

To me, vigil sitting is the hallmark of death doula work. Holding space for the dying is an essential part of my work. For me this involves creating a serene atmosphere that adheres to the dying person’s wishes and also noting physical changes as one nears the end of life. Sitting vigil also means that family and friends can have some respite while ensuring that their dying person will not be left alone. My goal in vigil sitting is to offer a compassionate presence and make the final transition as peaceful as possible.

Services are generally $90/hr with sliding scale available. Workshops and educational talks are priced individually based on length and content.

My approach

I approach my work and life at the intersection of multiple identities: I am a biracial, bisexual, fat femme. I have spent much of my life occupying in-between spaces, straddling different worlds, and trying to figure out where I belong. Growing up in a household that was both Sikh and Anglican, Punjabi and British, my life has been a blend of multiple beliefs, cultural rituals, and traditions. I am guided by my experiences and my faith in community over corporations. I value authenticity over all. I come to community death care with the knowledge that there is no perfect way to face death. Let’s find what works best for you.
